Petition Action

Individuals with mental health issues have a right to a diagnosis and treatment.

Petition Details

If 100 people sat in A&E with broken bones and attempts were not made to help, there would be outcry. Everyday people with mental health issues suffer and unless they try to kill themselves, kill others or commit crimes (hit rock bottom) they are left broken and no help is given. This is inhumane.

Additional Information

All individuals - especially the most vulnerable in society - need to know that when they are in need of help - they live in a society that will reach out and provide this support.
Unfortunately, people die feeling alone / unwell. Others become addicted to substances like alcohol in an attempt to medicate themselves to lighten their burden, others commit crimes due to their mental illness / addictions.... if only the help were given at the right time the outcomes could be so very different.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do to improve services for people with mental health issues.
