Petition Details

To fine homeless people for the unfortunate position they can find themselves in is unfair and unjust! These people do not ask to be made homeless, alot have mental issues ie PTSD, others have just fallen on hard times!! They need help not punishment. Its unfair when MPs can claim thousands a year

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. This kind of fine is issued by local councils, not the Government or Parliament.

If you are concerned about this happening in your local area, you could raise your issue with a local councillor, who represents you. You can use this page to find out who your local councillors are, and how to contact them:

www.gov.uk/find-your-local-councillors

If you want the Government or Parliament to take action, you could ask them to change the law, so that local councils no longer have the power to issue fines to homeless people in this way.
