Petition Action

Don't allow the former Peakirk Wildfowl site to be turned into Open Space

Petition Details

The site is continually the target of vandalism, arson, drug users and squatters.
The owners would like to develop part of the derelict site with a small cul de sac of around 24 units. In return they will gift the village with a desired amenity and the remaining parkland for public enjoyment.

Additional Information

The owners proposal would see the parkland opened up with landscaped grounds and ponds.
The Parish Council has declined the proposal insisting that the site be allocated as Open Space. This means it would remain private property and therefore remain as derelict land with disused buildings that continue to attract criminal trespassers and squatters which is not beneficial to anybody and surely see the house prices affected in Peakirk, which was once awarded the title of 'Best Kept Village'

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

This seems to be a decision taken by your parish council, not by the Government or Parliament. You could raise this directly with the parish council.
