Prioritise UK citizens residency rights in the EU in Brexit negotiations
The majority of UK nationals in the EU live in Spain, many of whom are retired, elderly and have nothing to go back to should Spain cancel residency rights as a result of Brexit. The government need to prioritise protecting residency rights in Brexit negotiations, as well as EU nationals in the UK
Mariano Rajoy has already spoken out about British citizens losing residency rights should the UK leave the EU. As many have moved their lives, money and families there, many have nothing to go back to should they be forced out. The government in the UK must prioritise securing UK nationals residency rights, as well as EU nationals in the UK before all other negotiations, especially with the vulnerable position Brexit has placed many people.
