A tax on complaints
Companies have to provide an 08xx complaints number that rather than the company receiving a percentage of the call, as many do at the moment, it goes to the Government as a 15p per minute tax. The intention being to improve Customer services and goods along with the generation of jobs within that sphere together with the reduction of holding times and Customer frustration.
The Financial Ombudsman dealt with 88099 complaints within the 6 months period of 1st July - 31 December 2010. One in four adults, ~12 million, in the UK made a complaint about a mobile phone, broadband or landline last year. TV and Radio received approximately 23700 complaints for year ending Sept 2010. At £1.50 for a ten minute call the above would generate £18M and encourage companies to improve their goods and services thereby making Great Britain the home of Rolls Royce products and services.
