Petition Action

Facilitate the prosecution of the int'l organisers of phone and internet fraud

Petition Details

Unsolicited calls are being received by thousands of UK citizens every day. Most originate abroad and are intended to trap the recipient into installing remote control software on their PC so that the caller can rifle through their 'digital life' to steal information and ultimately money.

Additional Information

There is little effective action that individuals can take when subjected to these scams. If caught out the scammers are abusive & threatening - if not stopped they steal from the vulnerable.
UK citizens need protection from this organised criminal activity.
If a foreign criminal attempts remote theft we should have a simple reporting setup and an associated investigative force to pursue the most reported and ultimately get those responsible jailed either here or in their own country.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
