Urge UN deployment of observers for safe evacuation of civilians and rebels
The Syrian Regime has failed to allow safe passage for besieged civilians and rebels to leave Aleppo and has resumed shelling. Thousands risk being massacred. The UK Government must support and urge the UN to deploy International Observers to facilitate the evacuation of all civilians and rebels.
As of the 14th of December 2016, France's Foreign Minister has called for the deployment of UN observers, but this has not been raised to the UN, nor does it stipulate safety for all civilians and militants.
"What France demands is the presence of observers of the United Nations on the ground to have a guarantee that the evacuation, which is a priority for the civilians, [takes place], but also so that militants are not massacred," (Jean-Marc Ayrault - quoted by Les Echos newspaper).
