The Government must not legislate against alternative sources of news.
Mainstream media is but an extension of special interest groups, the rich and powerful ruling classes. As we are supposed to live in a democracy where everyone has a right to voice their opinion, we should not allow any organisation or government prevent the freedom of speech. Hate speech excepted.
It is the responsibility of the reader to research and verify all sources of news for themselves, whether provided by the mainstream media outlets or alternative sources. It is not good enough to say that false information is damaging because much of the news distributed by mainstream media is in itself false or otherwise unverifiable (e.g. propaganda).
