Petition Action

Act on Assisted Dying in consideration with sustainability & climate change

Petition Details

There are many reasons for Assisted Dying Law in the UK: Right to a dignified death, compassion & ethics, 82% of public support, terminally ill people taking their own lives, Dignitas & 5 USA states.

Now there are more reasons: population crisis, food sustainability & climate change action.

Additional Information

UN Paris Agreement identifies UK targets & recognises climate change as a threat to sustainable food production. Global fertility is falling, yet by 2050, the population is expected to grow by 3 billion (globalcalculator.org). The OECD 2016 Agricultural Outlook states: 'In 2025, developed countries will still consume the highest volume of food in per capita terms'. Assisted Dying Law will reduce carbon footprint, conserve world resources & above all enable a compassionate choice for those dying
