Petition Action

Make it illegal for the police to conduct strip searches on children under 16

Petition Details

Young people are regularly being strip searched by the police. We think that this is breaking their human rights and is happening too often

Additional Information

This is a link to a girl who got stripped search by police officers when she was 12 years old and It absolutely scared her and now she's 20 and she still can't get over it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-37801760
This is just 1 example of strip searches by police but annually there is over 100s of under 16 getting stripped and searched.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. We're not clear whether you would like to ban all strip searches or whether you would like more rules in place to restrict strip searches. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.

You'll need to give your full name to start a petition that we can accept.
