Petition Action

mandatory phone caller numbers

Additional Information

I would like te Government to bring in legislation making ALL telephone callers display or leave a number that is traceable.

This will assist the Telephone Preference Service [TPS] and OFCOM in dealing with nuisance calls. These calls are a growing menace in today's marketing climate.

Currently a caller can leave a caller display or message to state they are 'Out of the area' or 'Private' which means you cannot give the 'caller identity' to TPS or OFCOM when complaining.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
