Petition Action

make unlimited, uninsured building companies an offence, to stop rogue builders.

Petition Details

It is time to stop rogue builders ripping people off with badly built or unsafe work. Builders just close down their businesss and restart with no redress to people having paid for work that is then not completed or left unsafe. It is time the government legislated against this fraudulent practise.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. It's clear that you are concerned about rogue builders ripping people off, but it is not clear what action you would like the Government or Parliament to take.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, you could start a new petition asking for the directors of building companies to remain legally responsible for the work of the company even after it has closed down.
