Mark January 24th as Churchill Day

Petition Details

Sir Winston Churchill was Britain's Greatest Prime Minister. He was born on the 30th November 1874 and died aged 90 on January 24th 1965. Churchill was a truly excellent servant for our country. He was Prime Minister twice and was the right man to lead us during the dark days of World War 2.

Additional Information

Without Churchill at the helm during the Second World War, our country might have looked very different. It was due to his leadership that Hitler was defeated. We believe that this remarkable man deserves recognition in our Calendar year. Mark January 24th as Churchill Day.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We're not sure how you would like 24 January to be marked in the UK. If you would like it to be a bank holiday, we could accept a petition asking for that. If not, you could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do to mark the day.
