Regulate the secondary market of event ticket selling
Concert tickets frequently sell out far too quickly for most ordinary fans to have a chance to buy.
Then, they immediately appear on the secondary market at inflated prices.
Clearly they have been bought with the sole purpose of being resold.
I suggest a price cap of 50% over face value.
U2 tickets went on sale at 9am on 16/01/17.
Every ticket at Twickenham stadium sold out via Ticketmaster in 10 minutes.
An hour later, there were already 409 tickets available for sale by Ticketmaster (using an alias brandname 'GetMeIn') on the secondary market.
The cheapest pair of tickets has rocketed from £80 to £583.88 of which Ticketmaster will now obtain over £180 in broker fees (£89.98 just from the buyer).
In this example, I also see a possible conflict of interest.
