Petition Action

Fix the healthcare crisis in Worcestershire before building another 28000 houses

Petition Details

Hospitals, Elderly care, & GP Surgeries are unable to meet the needs of the present population. In 2002, Worcester Royal Hospital replaced two existing hospitals, & services have moved from Kidderminister & Redditch. The Government plans for 28000 houses without any additional healthcare provision.

Additional Information

The South Worcs Development Plan (SWDP) means a population increase of about 75000 by 2030, without the resources to match. The Healthcare Trust is trying to cram "a quart into a pint pot". There can be no thought of continuing with the plan to house ever more people in this area until the promise of matching infrastructure is fulfilled. In this case it means proper resources for hospitals, GP practices and for Care provision, as well as 24 hour A&E facilities closer to population centres.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do about healthcare or planning in Worcestershire.
