Petition Action

Restrict breeding of domestic animals until UK pet crisis is manageable.

Petition Details

We believe preventing breeding domestic animals for monetary gain will decrease the number of animals living in cages instead of homes. We are calling for a strategy in conjunction with organisations working for animals to reduce the number of homeless animals in the UK by deterring breeding.

Additional Information

It is our societies decisions that have led to the number of abandoned animals increasing year on year. Rescue centres are overwhelmed and it is our responsibility to change this trend.
102,363 stray and abandoned dogs were handled by Local Authorities between 2014-2015, and in 2015 the RSPCA alone rescued almost 119,000 animals

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what restrictions you would like to see on the breeding of domestic animals.
