Provide funding to migrate all NHS systems from Windows XP for security reasons
Barts NHS trust has just been hit with a ransomware attack, it was running Windows XP. 30 percent of all NHS trusts have been hit by ransomware according to an FOI request by Sentinel One. Moving off Windows XP is efficient, Imperial College NHS Trust found they cut help desk calls by 60 percent.
Upgrade from Windows XP would be a good start but proper endpoint security is needed to protect against ransomware. Dynamic endpoint protection and DNS level filtering. Anti malware and anti exploit protection is also necessary.
