I believe that MPs should be held accountable for false social media posts
Given their position and the influence that they can potentially have over others, I believe that there should be a body to hold MPs accountable for false, misleading and untrue posts on social media
With the expansion of social media and the accessibility that there now is to an array of various different social media site it is important that information being posted to these sites by members of Parliament ( and other politicians) is factual. Is is too easy for people to see a post from an elected member and believe it to be true without question. Where an MP knowing post false information they should be held accountable

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. We're not sure how you would like MPs to be held accountable for false social media posts. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
