Petition Action

Make deception of the public during elections and referenda a criminal offence

Petition Details

It is now generally accepted by the public that politicians deliberately deceived voters to secure support for their campaigns in the European and Scottish referenda. These deceptions wreaked enormous damage to the social and economic fabric of the UK and is unacceptable in a modern democracy

Additional Information

Deception is a criminal offence, traders are prohibited from misleading the public and standards exist to govern most other areas of communication to the public. Politicians, prospective politicians and political campaigners must be held to similar standards, should not be immune to the consequences of lying and deception. The damage done is unfatomable and must stop now
