Statutory entitlement for medical appointments during full-time working hours
I would like to propose a statutory entitlement to attend medical appointments during work hours where an employee is on a full-time contract. This would seek to abolish penalties such as the deduction of days from an employee's statutory leave entitlement, providing evidence can be provided.
Whether this would be paid or unpaid is at the discretion of the employer. This could include having a set number of hours where the employee is paid and if the appointment or procedure is likely to take a day or longer including recovery, would be unpaid until qualifying for Statutory Sick Pay.
