addition to the Misuse of drugs act: random drugs testing of all benefits claimants
There is a provision in The Misuse Of Drugs act 1971:
Subject to the provisions of this Act, the Secretary of State may by regulations make such provision as appears to him necessary or expedient for preventing the misuse of controlled drugs.
The random drugs testing of all benefits claimants will first identify the drug users and types of drugs that have the prodominant use in any area of local unemployment and help the police, claiment officers and legal services to make appropriate legitimate action against the individual or group.
The Secretary of State can introduce legislation that allows the claimants officers to suspend monies for up to ninty days if the claimant is found to be under the influance of drugs through the failing of a random drugs test. The claimant must then prove by the end of the ninty days and a final drugs testing that they have ceased drugs use or all of their benefits entitlement is lost.
