Abolition of VAT on Sun Protection Products
At present sun protection products attract VAT at the full rate of 20% - most probably because the government regards the purchase of sun lotion products as a luxury like chocolate. This is WRONG!
Using sun protection products is a necessity, and therefore should attract a much lower rate of VAT - preferably zero rated or exempt.
By reducing the cost of these expensive products, more people could afford to use them, which in turn would reduce the chances of skin cancer, and save the taxpayer money by avoiding NHS treatment.
Prevention is always cheaper than cure!
