Serve prison sentances on a weekend

The government should introduce a law to facilitate the sentancing policy described below.


Those convicted of anti-social crimes and minor financial crimes should serve their sentance over a weekend say between the hours of 18:00 on a Friday and 06:00am Monday morning. The sentance handed down should be no less than if they had gone to prison full time.

This would enable them to work during the week and support their families themselves. Rather than the tax payer supporting their families. It might also make them think twice about re-offending as it is a drawn out way to be punished.
