Petition Action

Change the wording of the National Planning Policy Framework

Petition Details

Gladman Land and others are flooding local councils with plans to build on farmland the edge of villages in the UK
The wording of the NPPF needs to change to allow councils 2 years to comply with the Land Supply & Completion Rate of their SHMA
This will stop speculative development on farm land

Additional Information

Councils have to prove a "5 Year supply of land", and a robust "Local Development Plan" The govt urged councils to adopt figures in their local SHMA.
Councils stupidly agreed to be bound by the findings before the reports were complete. The reports gave unrealistic targets.Via court companies like Gladman got rulings that meant the figures had to be adopted. Suddenly 55% of councils don't have enough land.
This virtually guaranteed a win by appeal.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what changes you would like to be made to the NPPF.
