Petitions should provide a disagree option to help Parliament debate the issue.
Currently if one disagrees with a petition it is necessary to start another petition to register one's disagreement. Parliament then has to associate two or more independent petitions to judge wider opinion.
Providing a disagree option on the petition page would give Parliament more information.
Petitions https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/178844 and https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/171928 directly complement each other. It would be helpful to people finding one and wanting to vote for the other if they were combined with agree/disagree options.
Parliament has decided to debate both on 2017-02-20.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.
You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
