Designate groups that subscribe to alt-right ideals terrorist groups in the UK.

Petition Details

The global alt-right movement centres around white supremacism and neo-nazism with fringe groups of islamophobes, homophobes and anti-feminists. Followers of these ideologies have committed 18 attacks in the US since 9/11 and multiple attacks here in the UK, most notably the Murder of Jo Cox MP.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The Home Secretary has the power to "proscribe" an organisation if she
believes it is concerned in terrorism, and it is proportionate to do. She can do this if the organisation:

• commits or participates in acts of terrorism;
• prepares for terrorism;
• promotes or encourages terrorism (including the unlawful glorification of terrorism); or
• is otherwise concerned in terrorism.

We're not sure whether you'd like the law to be changed, to include other legal reasons for proscribing a group. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
