UK should not pay the EU a fine imposed on us by way of a divorce settlement.
It has been reported that the EU want us to pay a leaving fee of £50 billion and even as much as £500 Billion. We should continue to pay our contributions up to the point of leaving and then once left all financial obligations end at that point.
Many in the EU have suggested the UK should be financially penalized by way of a divorce settlement. There is nothing in the treaties about having to pay a leaving fee. The British tax payers should not be punished in this way. The EU should have accounted for the fact the UK could have voted to leave and so not have our contribution as they had plenty of advance notice we were having a referendum and so should not have over committed themselves as they presumed incorrectly we would remain.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We're not sure what you're asking the Government or Parliament to do. You could start a new petition calling on the Government not to agree to any deal with the EU that would require the UK to pay a fee to the EU.
