To class back garden chickens as domestic pets

Petition Details

100's of thousand of people in the U.K. have chickens in their garden for pleasure and eggs, they see them as pets but because they are not officially classed as pets some clauses disallow the keeping of them. Everyone should be allowed a few hens in their garden. They are pets!

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, you could ask Parliament to change the law, to make it illegal for any lease to ban the keeping of chickens.
