Reform the law to secure greater equality for transgender and non-binary people
Trans and non-binary people face inequality in the law and unacceptable levels of discrimination in society.
The UK government must reform the law to extend discrimination protections, improve gender recognition rights, and give the Scottish Parliament powers to protect & extend LGBTI equality.
Specifically this petition calls on the UK government to:
• Update the Equality Act 2010 to ensure all trans and non-binary people are fully protected from discrimination.
• Reform the Gender Recognition Act 2004 in line with international best practice, and scrap the spousal veto, to ensure all trans and non-binary people are able to access their human right to legal gender recognition.
• Devolve equality law to Scotland so the Scottish Parliament can protect and extend LGBTI equality.
