Give top Government priority to tackle all sexual abuse, especially child abuse
Child abuse is a national scandal.
Rape and sexual abuse of any kind should never be tolerated. Far too little is being done
The Government should give the highest priority to this scandal
This petition pleads for all political parties to unite to stamp down on sexual abuse of all forms
1 in 20 children are abused (NSPCC)
85,000 women and 12,000 men are raped in England and Wales alone every year
Nearly half a million adults are sexually assaulted each year
In 2015/16 police recorded 23,851 adults were raped; 5878 children.
Only 2,689 convictions (7.5%). In 2011/12 15% were convicted. These figures are a scandal.
1 in 5 women aged 16 - 59 has experienced some form of sexual violence
Only around 15% of those who experience sexual violence choose to report to the police
