Make it illegal for any council to let people sleep rough on our streets.
There been a rapid increase in homelessness and rough sleeping with many local authorities and central government failing to house people.
There should be a law that no person in the UK should be left homeless. This would mean that government would legally have to increase housing,
We have some of the lowest level of social hosing in Europe and with a rising population this is causing increasing levels of rough sleepers.
We have also closed many mental hospitals with a policy of care in the community, what this really means is care on the streets of the UK.
People are not animals and we should as the 4th largest economy in the world give people a legal right to a roof over their head.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. The law already requires local housing authorities to ensure that advice and information about homelessness, and preventing homelessness, is available to
everyone in their district free of charge. The law also requires authorities to assist individuals and families who are homeless or threatened with homelessness and who apply for help. You can find out more about this here:

You could start a new petition explaining what you would like to change.
