Petition Action

To arrest people protesting against outcomes of elections and referendums.

Petition Details

To many people and groups are protesting the democratic outcomes of elections and the new brexit referendum, we believe that if these outcomes are voted for and passed legally, that before mentioned groups or people protesting put an extra strain on police and other security services.

Additional Information

Groups protesting against democracy is not going to change how we vote or the outcomes of legally conducted elections and referendums. Policing them is wasting taxpayers money and should be stopped, if we arrest and charge as an offense. These protesters would stop wasting the police's time and resources. Other protests are legal and allowed of course, but not the protest of democratic process a outcomes of elections and referendums.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. People can't be arrested for this because it is not against the law. You could start a new petition asking for the law on protests to be changed.
