Tax Businesses That Leave Lights On Overnight

In an age where we have serious energy problems, and when we are struggling to meet our carbon targets, it is staggering that virtually every single shop on the high street has many lightbulbs blazing away (mainly in the window) all through the night, every night.

It is a complete waste. They might as well leave their taps running overnight too!

In my opinion something needs to be done to discourage it. Rather than a ban, I'd like to see some kind of tax introduced, so that some good can come from this pointless practice.
