Limit the tests given to primary school children.
I wondered the other day how many tests my daughter might have to do at primary school. From over a decade of experience as a primary school teacher, I estimated:
In school years 1-6 all classes are tested in reading, writing and maths at least three times per year, giving 54 tests!
This figure does not include phonics, SATS in years 2 and 6 or any other spelling, times tables assessments or tests in any other subject.
Help me gain back some of our children's childhood and give back some autonomy, not to mention precious teaching time, to the wonderfully experienced teachers in the UK. They can make professional judgements on our children's abilities in each subject without all this testing.
