Petition Action

Make serving & former MPs, MSPs & Counsellors, accountable for their actions.

Petition Details

The UK has a poor system, that means both serving and former MPs / MSPs are not accountable for errors, mistakes or actions.
When an MP gets it wrong, they can just walk away and ignore you, nothing you can do about it.

Additional Information

They can discriminate against the disabled, break data protection, ignore you, etc, but the authorities say MPs can do what they want, with no accountability unless it is covered by the parliamentary ombudsman. Which seems to cover very little.

These are some of the people who should be able to help, but say they cannot;
Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman
Scottish Public Services Ombudsman
Office of the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards
Parliamentary Ombudsman’s Office

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government and Parliament to take a specific action. We're not sure what changes you would like to be made to the existing system of accountability for MPs. You could start a new petition explaining clearly the action you would like the Government or Parliament to take.
