Petition Action

Regulate the ticket industry to prevent music fans being exploited.

Petition Details

Like many music fans I have often found that although tickets sell out within minutes of release they are instantly available at over twice the price on resellers websites.

Additional Information

Tried to get tickets to Arcade Fire today. Payment failed twice and then the tickets were no longer available. Out of interest clicked on the links on the site to see if I could get them somewhere else. Available on both StubHub and Heatwave at a minimum of £129 per ticket, ticket face value £50.
It seems obvious that either companies or individuals are buying tickets with the express intention of reselling them at a huge profit. This prevents all but the very wealthy from seeing the bands they love.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. We're not sure what regulations you'd like to be applied to the ticket industry. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
