Make the M6 Toll Road free of charge to ease congestion on the M6
The M6 is the key artery through the West Midlands, but it also suffers from chronic congestion as part of Britain’s longest and most important motorway.
Congestion is costing the West Midlands £1 billion a year, according to business leaders, as firms count the cost of two major motorway closures in a week.
Businesses were severely hit after of hours of tailbacks on the M6 through north Birmingham on Friday and Tuesday following crashes.
Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce said the cost of road congestion was more than £3 million a day in the region.
By opening up the M6 Tool this would ease congestion around Birmingham City
