Widen parking bays by amending the out of date Government Parking Standards.
Government parking standards recommended minimum sizes are 2.4m wide and 4.8m long.

It is about time the recommended width was increased to at least 2.8m. The Vauxhall Corsa – is 16% larger than it was 15 yrs ago.
The classic 1959 Ford Anglia was just 1.42m wide. This is quite a lot narrower than a modern Ford Fiesta which comes in at a portly 1.72m.
Even the latest Ford Mondeo is 4 cm longer than the average parking space.
A recent report by Accident Exchange said scratches and bumps, in car parks have increased by 35% since 2014. Such incidents now account for around 30% of all accidents recorded in the UK.
