Petition Action

Road side hedge/tree cutting

Additional Information

I propose that all hedges and trees should be cut back 1 metre from the edge of the road side.
I make this proposal to keep traffic, mainly lorries, from having to drive in the middle of the road to pass the hedges, and include privately overgrown hedges as well as fields and business areas. This could save lives.
I propose that all owers are made responsible and if not done within a specified time frame, that the DfT employ contractors to carry out the task and bill the owers directly regardless of costs. (which could raise money for the DfT purse and employ thousands of contractors!!)

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

This is a matter for local highway authorities (the county council in two-tier authority areas; the London borough/metropolitan district/unitary elsewhere).
