Take English literature off the National curriculum

Petition Details

English literature is not as important as English Language, schools should spend their time teaching students to improve their speaking, grammar and how to articulate themselves. We recently had GCSE mock exams and students who were taught only Language excelled in their results ,where as students

Additional Information

who were being taught Literature and Language failed in both, as more time was spent studying literature.Employers look at English language GCSE qualifications as more important than English literature.Literature should be optional and not compulsory as some students would like to go into the Literature field and it shouldn't be completely discredited, however it should not be as significant to gain a GCSE in English Literature as it is in English Language.
