Inv' role of London Mayoral and EU Ref' campaigns in rise in racist incidents.
There's been a dramatic increase in racist & anti immigrant attacks since the middle of 2016. What part did the behaviour of some politicians and media organisations using dog-whistle politics to gather support for their views on Brexit and the London Mayoral Election play in this?
We can debate the pros & cons of immigration, but there is no place for violence or threats towards people because of skin colour or country of birth, yet these have increased massively. Without a strong response we are in danger of it becoming the new normal.
Parliament should set up a commission to investigate whether some individuals and organisations deliberately or recklessly endangered our social cohesion to make short-term political gains, and consider how to prevent this in future
