Make posing as someone else via online sites illegal (catfishing)
After personally being 'catfished' and reading about so many others, it's about time it was made illegal. It's completely and utterly disgusting that in this day in age people can pose as someone else online, prey on vulnerable people and leave them feeling violated for their own enjoyment.
In 2014, via an online site, I met 'Darren'. Widowed father of a seriously ill daughter, Georgina. 'Darren' and I spoke for 8 months.In fact, you could say, We knew most things about each other.every time we arranged a meeting, something came up his end. Unfortunately,there isn't enough room for me to explain the whole story on this petition. But I'm sure you get the gist.Darren, his sister and best friend, were all Made up characters by a female who clearly preys on the vulnerability of others.
