Petition Action

Introduce harsher punishments for bullying in school.

Petition Details

Bullying in schools in incredibly prevalent today and, social media allows this intimidation to continue beyond the classroom. Just this week we hear of another child suicide due to bullying. Kids are scared to come forward because there is no real punishment for their tomentors.

Additional Information

Every 7 minutes a young person is bullied
1.5 million young people (50%) have been bullied within the past year
19% of these were bullied every day
44% of suicides in young people are as a result of bullying

How do schools respond? A day or two in internal exclusion units, a chat or even putting the bullies in a room with the victims. It's time to change the rules and have bullying punished properly. Bullies should be removed from the school and their parents forced to deal with the problem.
