Call on the Government to guarantee the rights of EU citizens in the UK
By taking a moral stance by their vote, the peers have sent a reassuring message to the expat community. The response from the Government is unequivocal and clearly shows that Mrs May indeed treats people as bargaining chips. This position is immoral and must be challenged by a national debate.
EU citizens have contributed to the UK’s economy for decades and many of us have made this country our home. While we regret the outcome of the referendum, we respect the democratic process and the Government should do well to remember that the people have given it a mandate to leave the EU but not to play with the lives of us and our children – the 3.3 million people caught in the collateral damage of the referendum.
