Dismiss calls to abolish the House of Lords
The House of Lords is made up of people from all walks of life whose varied experience provides a practical level of scrutiny to Commons proposals.
As such this petition calls for the House of Lords in its existing role to be maintained and that recent calls to abolish the chamber be dismissed
The House of Lords has the important duty of making and shaping laws and acts as an independent challenge to the House of Commons.
Following the House of Lords vote to amend the Article 50 bill a petition has launched calling for this Parliamentary chamber to be abolished.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.
You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
