Banning the sale of energy drinks to children under 16 years of age
Energy drinks are being consumed at an alarming rate by under 16s, they contain huge amounts of Caffeine (up to 5x's the amount found in 1 can of coke) in 1 can, has been linked to serious health conditions such as hypertension, irregular heart beats and even sudden death in children (university of Miami USA 2011), although many cans state on the packaging 'Not suitable for children' as part of the voluntary code of practice shops are still able to sell these to children as it is not illegal, i feel strongly along with all other parents i have spoken to that it should be an illegal act to sell these to children under the age of 16 and will fight to be heard on this, as a parent to 2 boys aged 8 and 12 i am seriously worried aabout their health., responsible parents please take action and sign this petition.
