Make full company sick pay a legal right for all employees.

Petition Details

Employers, such as my own, are increasing profits by cutting company sick pay, arguing that employees are entitled to statutory sick pay.

Statutory sick pay. A mere £88.45 a week. Not even close to the amount needed by most to make a rent payment, never mind live.

Additional Information

At a quick look a person may think that losing a couple of days income to the common cold may not be the end of the world, but when an employee is faced with an unexpected illness or injury they are at risk of being away from work for weeks or months, which will lead to severe financial crisis.

I hope that the UK government will back the country's hard workers, that are already at high risk of becoming even poorer, by affording them the guarantee and right to full company sick pay.
