Petition Action

Display Calorific Information on Menus.

Additional Information

This petition is to force all public food-outlets to clearly display a calorific value on all food served.

Still to this day fast food outlets and pub chains still do not show the public true nutritional information on their menus, and when asked their staff cannot give you the correct information about the food they are serving.

Showing the calorific value of all foods in restaurants and fast-food chains will help people make better choices, and help fight against the UK’s rising obesity stastistics.

The Government is concerned about the levels of obesity in this country. The latest Health Survey for England (HSE) data shows us that nearly 1 in 4 adults, and over 1 in 10 children aged 2-10, are obese.

In 2007, the Government-commissioned Foresight report predicted that if no action was taken, 60% of men, 50% of women and 25% of children would be obese by 2050.
