Make it legal for U.K. citizens to vote from the age of 16
Children in the U.K. have the privilege of enjoying one of the best education systems in the world. First hand, I know that most secondary school children express an interest in the politics of our country. They deserve a view in their future but instead it is dictated for them.
According to YouGov, ballots showed that 75% of 18-24 year olds voted remain in the EU referendum and with no similar results amongst teenagers as they weren't allowed to participate however it is likely this correlation would continue. However, NUS polls showed the same results for 16-18 year olds.
There over 1.5 million people in this age group according to the 2011 census which makes up 2.3% of the population, a figure that could swing many past results.
