Ban the three-line-whip in petitioned debates.
We the undersigned argue and request that leaders of political parties should not be allowed to influence MPs' votes using the three-line-whip in petitioned debates as it is undemocratic.
A motion put forward by a petition requesting "referendum rules triggering a second EU referendum" and a motion put forward by a petition requesting "Donald Trump not to be allowed a state visit to the UK" were blocked by debates with pre-decided outcomes. We the undersigned believe that this is undemocratic and should not be allowed.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
Debates on petitions usually take place in Westminster Hall, where there is no vote. You can find out more about Westminster Hall debates here:

In any case, whips are appointed by each party in Parliament to help organise their party's contribution to parliamentary business. Arrangements for "whipping" votes are the responsibility of the political parties, not the Government or Parliament.
